The apartment, which has been recently renovated to a very high standard, is on the ground floor of a small chalet style apartment building and comprises 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one ensuite), a spacious open plan kitchen / diner/ living area, a balcony, a private ski and boot room with a heated boot and glove rack as well as storage for all ski and snowboard gear. There is an allocated parking space for sole use by the apartment. The modern kitchen is well equipped and has all usual appliances such as kettle, toaster, hob, oven, fridge and dishwasher and there is a large dining table that will seat 8 people. The living area has a large sofa (which can be converted to a double bed), a small table and stools (great for kids playing games!), TV, DVD player, Google Chrome Cast and Bluetooth speaker. The first bedroom with chunky, comfy, wooden fitted bunks along one wall to sleep 4 people also has a TV and integral DVD player. The second bedroom has a double bed and ensuite bathroom with shower. Bathroom 2 has a corner bath with shower and 2 basins and there is also a separate toilet.
If you are staying there for skiing, the apartment is just a 3 minute walk from the Telecabine / Gondola in La Chapelle d’Abondance, so from there you can ski the whole of the Portes du Soleil (P d S) ski area. There is also a bus stop right by the apartment and the Navette (free with a lift pass) takes you up to Chatel and the Super Chatel Telecabine. You can also drive and park at the other Chatel lift stations such as Vonnes (about 5 minutes); Linga (about 10 minutes) and Pres la Joux (about 15 minutes) – all great access points for the vast P d S ski area! In addition, La Chapelle has its own unlinked ski area which is a couple of minutes’ drive from the apartment. So, plenty to choose from! There are a number of ski hire shops in the village where you can hire all you need and, if you are in the area for mountain biking, then everything you might need for that activity can be hired in La Chapelle d’Abondance or Chatel (5 minutes drive away).
The village is well served with some great places to eat and drink (we are more than happy to provide recommendations and share our favourite places with you!) and there is also a boulangerie and a small supermarket. The nearest bar and restaurant is the Fer Rouge (8 min walk from the apartment) which has a micro brewery (and Happy Hour from 5 – 7. There is a large Intermarche just a short drive away (less than 5 minutes).
